Great Wolf Lodge

The Logsdon family just returned from the most fantastic trip to Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine, TX.  We watched movies & ate donuts on our drive down on Friday morning.  We arrived around 11:30a and even though they say check in isn’t until 4p, our room was ready & waiting for us.  We used their handy carts to tote all our stuff up to our Family Suite (all rooms are suites that include a micro & refrig so you can take your own food, if wanted).  Everyone that works there was awesome & completely attentive to making the whole experience kid/family friendly the whole time we were there.  The lobby is fantastic & really catches the imagination right away.  The floor to (VERY tall) ceiling windows let you look out over the indoor water park, there is a tree house, an animated show cabin area, a huge fireplace, a large gift shop, check in & a restaurant all right there waiting for you.  You travel down the long hall to the bank of 8 elevators waiting to take you to your room.  Our room was on the 5th floor about 3/4 down.  At first I was a little upset about this but soon learned this was a good thing because we had more space between us & the ever busy elevator lobby areas.  We swam twice each day for about 2 hours each time.  You could wear your swim suit all day if you wanted & just cover up when you decide to go do something else in the hotel.  At check in everyone is given a wrist band that they must wear for the duration of their stay.  For the kids, this serves as their waterpark pass.  For the adults, it is your room key, a room credit card, waterpark pass, etc…  Super convenient.  Again family friendly because you don’t have to worry about carrying money around with you or your room key or losing anything because its attached to you.  When you want/need a break from swimming there are tons of other things to do.  Cub Club provides arts & crafts, games, etc… for the younger kids.  Gr_8 Space provides entertainment for the 12-17 yr old crowd.  There is a Mommy spa where you can get a mani, pedi, massage, facial, etc… There is a “scoops” spa for the little girls to get their nails done or facials.  There is an arcade, a build-a-bear kiosk and the most fun of all a MagiQuest game that is a multiple level treasure hunt game that takes you all over the hotel (this is why the lobby on each floor is so busy).  Zye & Tace LOVED this.  I think there are 15 levels and we were only able to complete 11 of them in the 3.5 days we were there.  So, it is definitely worth the $.  They have all sorts of options that you can add on to your stay.  We choose the “Paw Pass” which allowed the kids to do lots of differerent special things around the hotel for “free.”  The waterpark is set up in different sections to make it easy for all ages to have a fabulous time.  The small child area is no deeper than 2′ at any point.  It includes 2 small slides & lots of toys & fountains.  Tace, at 3, loved this area.  Zye liked it too, he is almost 7.  Then there is the big water fort which has 2 larger slides and TONS of water coming & going.  This is where the HUGE 1000 gallon bucket of water dumps every few minutes in the splash zone.  This is geared more for the 6-10 year old probably.  There is a not-so-lazy river and a wave pool that are great for all ages.  Then there is a big slide section that has at least 4 very large, very fast slides.  We only went down 1 of them because Zye didn’t really care for them.  There is an obsticle course type area for the older kids as well.  Tons of lifeguards are on duty all over & are actually VERY attentive.  There are cabana type tents that you can rent that come complete with TV’s & refrigerators if you have someone in your group that is anti-water or wants to watch the big game while “supervising” the kids.  I have a ton of pics on our website for your viewing pleasure.  You can see much of what I’m talking about in these pics.  Just click on the pics above & they will take you to the “index.”  You can scroll through the index to see all the pics.  We are already planning our next trip to GWL - it was AWESOME!

December/Christmas 2009

As I’m sure was the case with all of you, our December was busy & SUPER fun.  Not only did Norman get the blizzard of a lifetime on Christmas Eve giving us one of very few white Christmases, we had all kids of fun doing our annual holiday things, playing with friends & seeing family.  We went on the Christmas train once again this year.  This has become one of our family’s favorite holiday traditions.  We made our gingerbread house, made cookies for Santa & food for his reindeer.  AND, in early December, Zye lost his very first tooth.  It was super exciting after watching it just hang there for what seemed liked weeks.  Hope your Christmas was as fun & joyous as ours.

November 2009

It’s hard to believe that November has come & gone and all the events of the holiday season are underway.  We took the boys to see their first Thunder game in November.  They both LOVED it!  They love Rumble from afar but have no interest in getting within 10 feet of him.  Old Hat moved their offices from Campus Corner to a building just a few blocks away.  We have a lot more space now that we are quickly filling up with new employees.  The highlight of the month was going to see Curious George at the Cox Center in OKC.  Both boys love Curious George & couldn’t wait to see him LIVE!  It was a big hit & a good show.  We spent some time with Jill’s family for Thanksgiving  at her Grandma’s house & then at her cousins house on Thanksgiving day.  We all enjoyed seeing & visiting with the family.  On “Black Friday” we avoided the stores & choose to hang out in PJ’s & put up Christmas decorations.  By Friday night the house was all lit up & ready for Grammy Sherry (Zac’s Mom) to come over for some more Thanksgiving food.  She made her awesome chicken & noodles and Jill handled the rest.

September/October 2009 - Tace Turns 3!

As always, our fall has been full of fun things.  School is in full swing, football has begun, Tace’s b-day & Halloween are here.  We have had a great Fall so far.  Enjoy our pics!  I apologize that many of them were uploaded multiple times for some reason.

July/August 2009

We had a ton of fun in our last few weeks of summer break.  The boys attended MDO Summer Day Out at our church in July.  We watched fireworks on the 5th of July due to the huge storm that came through Norman the night of the 4th.  Zye turned 6 1/2 which was a pretty big day for him.  :)  We went to the Jasmin Moran Museum in Seminole with our friends the Thomas’.  We rode the Amtrak train from Norman to Ardmore & spent the day with our friends Brandon & Lindsey.  The boys LOVED the train & continue to ask to go on it again.  Then, toward the end of August, like everyone else, we geared up for Back to School.  Zye is in Mrs. MacKay’s 1st grade class.  He loves his teacher & is loving school.  We are having a great year.  Tace is in the 3-year old class at his school & is a huge fan of the girls in his class.  He comes home telling me about which one he chased today.  Both boys continue to be much like their father - huge goofballs.  The dog, Yale, is huge now & eats everything.   When I say everything, I literally mean, EVERYTHING.  Nothing is off limits.  If our house weren’t brick, she would eat it too - don’t think she hasn’t tried.

May/June 2009

The end of another school year, sports, vacation, camps and just general summer fun have kept us busy the past couple of months.  Zac & Jill celebrated their 10th anniversary in January and finally went on their trip in late May/early June.  We went to Seattle & Victoria, BC.  It was AWESOME!  The boys & Yale stayed with Jill’s parents while we were gone & had a fantastic time.  Zye has started & finished his final season of tball.  Next year he graduates to machine pitch.  Zye has attended weird science camp & art camp and both boys are enjoying “summer day out” at our church now.

April 2009

We started April off with a visit from Jill’s brother Cody and his wife, Melissa.  They were in town for our cousin’s wedding which was in Tulsa on Palm Sunday.  It was a super cold and windy day but the wedding was beautiful and it gave us a wonderful opportunity to see the whole family.  We had multiple egg hunts at home & church for Easter.  The Easter bunny visited.  Zye got super sick right before Easter and missed an entire week of school.  We still aren’t sure what was wrong.  He is all better now though.  Tace turned 2 1/2 and is just as ornery as ever.  Zye’s soccer season started.  Two of our games have been rained out but he is having fun at the games we actually get to play.  Zac ran the OKC Memorial Marathon again.  The conditions were horribly windy and I think he is still trying to decide if he ever wants to do something that crazy again.  Two times might be enough.  Yale turned 6 months old and we got her fixed so there will be no risk of more little chewing puppies running around.  She is a good dog but man does she make BIG messes.  She is HUGE and still has a lot of growing to do.

February/March 2009

We didn’t do much during February & March.  Zye participated in his school’s Bingo Night Fundraiser and the Jog-a-thon.  He raised over $200 for his school by jogging 22 laps.  He ran the whole time and went further than any other student in Kindergarten.  For spring break we just stayed around here.  The boys spent a couple days with Grandpa & Nana, we played with friends at the park, at our house and went to the zoo.  Luckily, we had 3 very nice days during spring break so we got outside a bit.  Yale is getting HUGE!  She is a really good dog though and the boys continue to enjoy playing with her.  Yale will be 6 months old in April and Tace will be 2 1/2.  Zye has almost completed Kindergarten and says he is looking forward to summer break.  We’ll see how long that lasts once school is actually out.

January 2009

What a great January!  Zac & Jill celebrated 10 years of marriage, Zac turned 32, Zye turned 6 and we had 3 snow days.  Well, the snow days weren’t so great for Mom but Zye and Tace thought they were awesome.  Yale, the new puppy we got from Grandpa & Nana at Christmas, is doing great.  The boys love her and she is getting big fast.  She is in puppy training class right now and is doing quite well.  She is surprisingly well behaved, which is good since Jill is not a dog person.  Hope the new year is treating all of you well.

Late December/Christmas/New Years Eve

What an awesome Christmas season we had. We got to visit with all of our family and just had a wonderful time. We even added a new member to our family. Grandpa got the boys a white lab puppy. Zye has named her Yale. She is adorable and sweet and really smart. She is adjusting quite well to her new family. She and Zye are already the best of friends. Tace is still getting used to her but coming around quickly. Jill’s brother and his wife, Melissa were able to be here for several days right after Christmas and Zac’s brother and his family were here to visit one day. We traveled to Jill’s Grandma’s house and Jill’s Aunt’s house for two different family celebrations. Our small little famiy did our annual Christmas Train ride in OKC again this year. The boys had a blast. Check out all our pictures to see all the fun things we packed in to a few short weeks. HAPPY NEW YEAR!  Zac & Jill will be celebrating their ten year anniversary on Jan 2nd.  That’s right, 10 years.  Yes, we are getting old.
